Day 16

Day 16: A song that makes you cry.

That's pretty easy. :P There are a lot of songs that make me cry, but the one that has made me cry the most often (at least besides the one that Suzy did), is So Close by Jon McLaughlin. *sigh...*

I really think this would be perfect for a first dance at a wedding if only the lyrics weren't so wrong...

Anyways, goodnight everyone and have a wonderful Sabbath day!!!

Shay

(P.S. There is no song of the day today because yesterday's is still going through my head.) I like it. :)

Song for today.

I really just love this song. I've been hearing it on the radio a bunch lately and then it played in Burgerville the other day so I went to go find it. :) You know those songs where you listen to them and the lyrics are just perfect?

Day 15

Day 15: A person you admire.

My Mom of course! The amazing person who deals with ten wild kids all day every day.

She also had her birthday just a couple days ago. Happy Birthday Mama!!! I love you!

Song for today.

Note: The song of the day posts are completely random songs that have caught my ear that day.

btw this is my fiftieth post on this blog! wOOt 50 posts and 8 comments... Wow... :P

Day 14

Day 14: A vacation you would like to take.

I think the one I would like most to take right now is a cruise with all my girl friends. :D It wouldn't really matter where, I just think it would be a lot of fun. It's either that or a few days in Seattle. :D

Song for today.

Day 13

Day 13: A guilty pleasure.

I'm not sure... Oh, I know! :P Certain books... Like the Twilight series. Or the Regina Doman books which aren't bad in themselves, but when you've read them as many times as I have...

I love her books so much... All my copies are very very well worn. :P Highlighted and everything.

Day 12/Song of the day

Day 12: A song that you want played at your wedding(or was played).

This song has been for years, and will be forever, one of my favorites... Alison Krauss is who inspired me to learn to sing and this song in particular. The words and the music are so beautiful and she sings it so well... I don't know what songs I will play at my wedding, but at this point in my life this song is very high on the list. :)

Day 11

Day 11: A photo of you taken recently.

This was at the 4th of July at the W's :)

Day 10

Day 10: A photo of you taken over ten years ago.

That probably wasn't really over ten years ago... But it's the best I can do. :P

Song for today.

I love this song and the lyrics. :) A Fine Frenzy is my favorite artist of the week.

Day 8

Day 8: A thank you letter to someone who has changed your life.

Wow... That's a hard one...

I think one of the most important people in my life has been Forrest.

Forrest, you and I have been best friends forever. Played forts, wars, "Bunting", "Kaw birds"... Told each other hilarious stories late at night.
We did everything together for years, you were my first and my only friend for a very very long time.
We could know what the other person was trying to say in completely random situations. "You know that thing we did that time?" "Oh, yeah! That was so much fun!"
I love you my brother :)

Keep the Change

The best country song I've heard in a while.

Day 7

Day 7: Five things you couldn't possible live without.

I am very tired. But I wanted to do this tonight/this morning instead of bunching two together later.

1. The Bible

2. Music :D

3. Books

My awesome amazing lovely wonderful friends!!!! :D :D :D

And my Church. :D :D :D

(I stole this picture from Miwaza, I hope she doesn't mind. :P)

So goodnight all!

Loads of love, Shay

Day 6

Day 6: A moment you wish you could relive.

I was just reminded that I still had to do this post. :P Hem hem. And I have two minutes to do it in or it will be tomorrow's post. I doubt it's going to happen, but here goes.

I have a horrible horrible memory and I think I have to agree on Nathan, most things are things I wish I could go back and change, not really just relive... But there are a few. :)

My high school graduation, though that's still really a change one.

The last couple KA dinner theaters that I got to see. :D

The baseball game. (I know that wasn't that long ago, but it's still a memory!)

Oaks Park...

I think that's all that I can remember right now. :P

And I did it in time! *gasp*

Much love!

The Smoothie Test

You Are Complicated

You have many sides to your personality. You aren't exactly the easiest person to figure out.

You are quirky and apt to contradict yourself. You are constantly evolving and changing.

You have a unique take on life, and unlike most people, you're not too optimistic or pessimistic.

You appreciate novelty and uniqueness. Most of your favorite things are acquired tastes.

Song for today.

I have just been attacked by the evil killer brain hackers... In other words I got a sudden splitting headache. So, I'm taking a short break from transcribing and am frittering time.

This song was the first one that came on my Pandora this morning and I liked the lyrics a lot.

Sometimes country songs say what you're feeling so well...

Day 5

Day 5: A favorite quote.

I am tired of the "a"s... Very annoying to pick only one. So today I'm not going to do just one and just put up a bunch that I like. Besides, I've never even considered having a favorite quote...

"Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you've never been hurt and live like it's heaven on earth." ~~Mark Twain

"Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. 'Pooh' he whispered.
'Yes, Piglet?'
'Nothing' said Piglet, taking Pooh's hand. 'I just wanted to be sure of you." ~~A. A. Milne

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you." ~~A. A. Milne

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." ~~C. S. Lewis

"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in the casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable." ~~C. S. Lewis

"It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all - in which case, you fail by default." ~~J. K. Rowling

"Loyalty to country ALWAYS. Loyalty to government, when it deserves it." ~~Mark Twain

"Calvin: You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.
Hobbes: What mood is that?
Calvin: Last-minute panic." ~~Bill Watterson

"I think we dream so we don't have to be apart so long. If we're in each other's dreams, we can play together all night." ~~Bill Watterson

"Music is to the soul what words are to the mind." ~~Modest Mouse

"If you are allergic to a thing, it is best not to put that thing in your mouth, particularly if the thing is cats." ~~Lemony Snicket

"You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common: they don't alter their view to fit the facts; they alter the facts to fit their views." ~~Tom Baker

"There's one tiny little gap in the universe left, just about to close. And it takes a lot of power to send this projection. I'm in orbit around a supernova. I'm burning up a sun just to say goodbye." ~~Doctor Who

"When you run with the Doctor, it feels like it'll never end. But however hard you try you can't run forever. Everybody knows that everybody dies and nobody knows it like the Doctor. But I do think all the skies of the worlds might just turn dark if he ever for one moment, accepts it. Everybody knows that everybody dies. But not everyday. Not today. Some days are special. Some days are so, so blessed. Some days, nobody dies at all. *In the library the Doctor walks back to the TARDIS. He stops, looking at the doors. Then he raises his hand, and stands there poised for a long moment. Finally he snaps his fingers. The Doors open. He smiles slowly, and walks in joining Donna. Then he snaps his fingers again, and the doors close. River's voice continues over this.* Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair, and the Doctor comes to call... everybody lives." ~~Doctor Who

So those are some of my favorite quotes. There are many many many more :P but those are the ones that I could find easily. :)

Love to you all!

Shayleen

Day 4

Day 4: A favorite television program.

Finally an easy question! :D Doctor Who is definitely by number one favorite TV show as most of you know. :D Stargate and Leverage come in close behind, but Doctor Who is the best. Ever.

My favorite Doctor of course is number 10, David Tennant. :D

And my favorite companion is Rose, Billie Piper.

Their relationship, I think, is one of the most beautiful and understated love stories on TV.

Their first and really their only real kiss was to save her life.

So. Sad. :'(

But one of my favorite episodes was with the 11th Doctor and Amy Pond. Vincent and the Doctor. I cried so hard...

We watched this episode very soon after we watched a documentary about Vincent Van Gogh. I didn't think I would ever cry at a documentary...

And there I go crying again... I just wish it were real... That Vincent had known how his pictures had lasted...

!!! :D

Well, I have been keeping up with the 30 day challenge, but it does make it hard to keep up on everything else that happens. :P

Ok, Friday was pretty awesome. :D :D :D Elisa, Mama and I went to Portland and walked around Downtown all afternoon. We went to Pioneer Square and saw the sand castles everyone was building. I though this one was particularly impressive. Look at the wings! I wonder how they did that...

We also went to the mall there and then to Pizzicato, the best pizza place ever!!! We had puttanesca which is the best kind. :D Love love love!

After that we went to Magpies.

A retro clothes store which I LOVE!!!!!! I know, I know... :P I love a lot of things, but I really do love this store! :D I love vintage things so much, especially fifties and this place has some of the most amazing vintage clothing! There was this yellow 50's prom dress that I wanted so badly and this blue one with this awesome pink sash, and a beautiful beautiful pink dress with a scarf to go with it. Then there were at least three other dresses that made me wish so badly I had the money and the reasons to buy them... *sigh... I need to be come rich and famous. :P

Anyways after that we went to Buffalo Exchange and Elisa bought a GIR T-shirt. :) Not the one I would have chosen... But still, it's kind of cute.

This one is more along the lines of what I would choose, but what I would really want is one of GIR singing "The Doom Song"!!!
The last place we went was a store that I think was called Everyday Music, but I'm not sure... But I was asking the guy at the counter about Radiohead and it was really funny. :P He looked at me really weird like you...?? Radiohead? lol I guess I don't look the type to listen to it?

BUT!!! The real reason we went to Portland in the first place was because the choir that I sing in was asked to sing the National Anthem at a Beaver's baseball game!!! :D :D :D

See it from every angle!!!

But yeah. That was pretty awesome. :D And I just found out that there were actually over 7,000 people there. We sang in front of that many people... It's way less scary to sing with a group than it is singing by yourself, but still... That's a lot of people, I'm surprised I wasn't more nervous. :P

Anyways, I'm finally going to bed!

Goodnight!

Day 3

Day 3: A favorite book.

Yet another thing that I do not have just one favorite of. :P Let's see...

I think I will do, because it is kind of random, and because I doubt most people have read it, Death Comes as the End by Agatha Christie.

It was the only one of her stories I think that was not set in present time. It's an Egyptian story about a widow named Renisenb and the possible ghost of a woman named Nefret. It's very scary and has a very sad/interesting/surprising/happy ending. :D

I generally love Agatha Christie, because her style of writing is very gripping, but I also love her because she inspires me to write. I read one of her books and I come away all fired up to work on my own stories. One of my other favorites by her is The Crystal Ball and Other Stories. It's a collection of short ghost stories. Some of which are also really scary. I like a good ghost story as long as it's not just plain terrifying. :P They have to be more of a suspense kind of thing.

Next time you're either in the mood for a good British book, or a mystery, or ghost story, these are very good choices for you!

Love you!

Day 2

Day 2: A favorite movie. :D

Equally hard to decide on...

I think for this post I will use

I Have Found It

(Kandukondain Kandukondain)starring Aishwarya Rai.

It's an Indian version of Sense and Sensibility and I loooove it. :D :D :D

"Marianne"

"Elinor"

"Elinor" with her "Willoughby"

It's very late and a Saturday night, so I'm not going to really say anything else, except that this is a very very good movie and I would highly recommend it. The music and dancing are wonderful and so are the costumes. :D

I really want to make the dress she wears about two minutes into this song.

Oh, and the movie isn't in English, but there are subtitles. :P I personally think it adds to the movie, but it does make it so that you have to really watch it. You can't look down at all.

I really wonder how long it takes to film just one song... There's so many outfit changes... Seven in this one four and a half minute song. :P

This song is so beautiful sounding... I want to learn it. :P

Anyways, it's a lovely movie. :)

Goodnight all!

Day 1

Day 1: A favorite song.

Emphasis on the "a"... I could never pick just one favorite song.

I finally decided on Dashboard by Modest Mouse. It's just so happy! :D

Well, it would've been, could've been worse than you would ever know.
Oh, the dashboard melted, but we still have the radio.

Oh, it should've been, could've been worse than you would ever know.
Well, you told me about nowhere well it sounds like someplace I'd like to go.

Oh, it could've been, should've been worse than you would ever know.
Well, the windshield was broken but I love the fresh air you know.
(The dashboard melted but we still have the radio)

Oh, it would've been, could've been worse than you would ever know, oh!
(The dashboard melted but we still have the radio)
Oh, we talked about nothing which was more than I wanted you to know-oh-oh-oh-oh.
Now here we go!

Oh! It would've been, could've been worse than it had even gone
Well, the car was on blocks, but I was already where I want.
(It was impossible, we ran it good, we ran it good)

Why should we ever even ever really even get to know?
(It was impossible, we ran it good, we ran it good)
Oh if the world don't like us it'll shake us just like we were a co-oh-oh-oh-old.
Now here we go!

Well we scheme and we scheme but we always blow it
We've yet to crash, but we still might as well tow it
Standing at a light switch to each east and west horizon,
Every dawn you're surprising,
and in the evening one's consoling
Saying "See it wasn't quite as bad as"
Well, it would've been, could've been worse than you would ever know.

I was patiently erasing and recording the wrong episodes
After you had proved my point wrong,
It wasn't like I'd let it go, oh-oh-oh. Oh-oh-oh.
I just wanted to catch the last laugh of this show.

Yeah, it would've been, could've been worse than you would ever know.
Oh, the dashboard melted, but we still have the radio.
(The dashboard melted, but we ran it good, we ran it good)

Hard-wired to conceive, so much we'd have to stow it
Even needs have needs, tiny giants made of tinier giants.
Don't wear eyelids so I don't miss the last laugh of this show.
(The dashboard melted but we still have the radio)

Oh, we could've been, should've been worse than you would ever know.
(The dashboard melted but we still have the radio)
Well, you told me about nowhere well it sounds like someplace I'd like to go-oh-oh-oh-oh.

Oh it would've been, could've been worse than you would ever know.

I would also recommend by them, Blame it on the Tetons, Fire It Up, Float On, Gravity Rides Everything... I really like this band. :)

Anyways, love to you all and goodnight! :D

The Sand and Surf Test

You Are Creative

You see inspiration where other people see nothing. You have an amazing eye for beauty.

You appreciate everyone and everything in this world. You actually like flaws. Perfection is overrated!

You can always find a way to entertain yourself and dream a little. You believe in endless possibilities.

You are a very visual person, and at times you can be overwhelmed by all you are seeing. The world can be an intense place.

The Coffee Shop Test

You Are an Idealist

You can't help but dream big, and you resent anyone who tries to bring you back down to earth.

You are always optimistic and cheerful. You expect the best, even if things don't turn out as planned.

You are sophisticated and classy. You don't try to grab attention, but you always get plenty of it anyway.

You are rich in personality, spirit, and probably even wealthy. You never flaunt your advantages.

Success!

Mama and I went to the mall today. I think I did very well. :D These shoes were nine dollars.

Tops from Old Navy five dollars

I also got this gorgeously beautiful blouse from Romy that I've been looking at for quite a while for only five dollars! :D

Plus two adorable tops from Wet Seal. I'm not really a fan of Wet Seal :P But they did have a really good clearance. Buy one get one for a penny. So that was pretty good. :)

Now I'm really hot and I'm not sure if I'll be able to sleep. :P It's like an oven in here...

Oh, well I guess I'll go try. :P

Goodnight!

Much love

at one in the morning...

So, it's 11:21 at night, I have a headache, we're in the middle of watching a movie, and I was out this evening. BUT, I said I would post or you could kill me. :P

And now the movie is over and it's 12:45. :P :P :P Plus my headache has increased to monstrous sizes. Meh

So, the 4th was pretty awesome. :) We went to Church, as usual and after the meal we went home to get ready to go to the W's. I got a ride there with Rebekah so I got there a whole lot sooner than the rest of my family. :P I spent just about the entire party talking to my friends and watching people play volley ball. :D Pretty fun! :D

Monday was Charity's 18th birthday. We went to their house and played Uno just about the whole time. :P

And today I went and saw Toy Story 3 with a bunch of friends.

It was all in all a very very good few days. :)

Other than that I have started transcribing a sermon for our Church. It's rather difficult. You have no idea how many times I have listened to certain parts of it... :P :P :P It's very very repetitive work. But I enjoy typing, so... :)

Also I am very mad. :( On Monday I walked all the way to the bank to cash a check. Irene went with me and we went to look at the clearance section of shoes at Fred Meyers. Irene bought a pair of shoes for nine dollars and I found a pair that I just love which were also nine dollars. So I went to go cash my check so I could get the shoes... But... Apparently the bank is closed on the 5th of July... SO STUPID! :( So I couldn't get the shoes, or cash my check.

So today, I walk back up there with Mama. And... the sale was over! The shoes were back up to thirty dollars. :'( I am very sad.

Anyways...

There was a very interesting sermon on Sunday. It brought a lot of questions to my mind.

Something I have thought a lot about is how much loyalty should we owe to our country? I love my country very much. I am proud to be an American. I am not proud of our government though.

But my head hurts way too much right now to get into all that. :P

Toy Story 3 was pretty awesome. :) Very funny. I liked it much much more than Toy Story 2.

But I'm going to bed now.

Goodnight my dears...

Much love to you all

Shay

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

:P

Ok, so I know I said I would do a real post today... But it's now tomorrow and I'm tired and I have things I need to do tomorrow. So, no real post. :P :P

You Are Red

You are a highly passionate person, and you'd stand up and fight for anything you believe in.

You're a lot like the founders of the United States. You are a bit of a revolutionary.

Like most modern Americans, you are have things you love and hate about the USA ... and you're not afraid to say what they are.

Keep expressing your opinion and acting to fix what's wrong. People like you are what makes the USA great.

You Have a Big Smile

You can get easily overwhelmed by your emotions. When you're happy, it's hard not to have a huge grin.

You are a very enthusiastic and energetic person. Some may even call you bubbly.

You're the first person your friends want to call when they have good news. You're always up for some celebrating.

You're never jealous when other people are happy. You want everyone to be smiling!

Instead, stupid quizzes that I am addicted to!!! Isn't that awesome? :D :P

I promise I will do a better post tomorrow. If I don't you have my permission to kill me. Ok? :P

Love you all heaps!

Shayleen

Tomorrow :D

Tomorrow is the 4th of July. :D It's on a Sunday this year which is a little sad... Usually on the 4th our Church has a softball game in the morning just one block from our house, which is tons of fun. Oh well, we're going to the big party at the W's house. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D It's going to be pretty awesome. We went last year for the first time and I had a wonderful time.

There's a pie baking contest and I'm entering an apple pie. I'll post about everything else there is on Monday probably. :D But tonight it's already 11:23 on a Saturday night so I should get to bed at a decent time.

So I'll content myself with a quiz:

You Make Interesting Waves

You're content to sail along until you're inspired to change things.

You don't make waves for their own sake, but you're not afraid to shake things up with the time is right.

You are generally a calm person, but when something takes hold of you, you have an unmatched energy.

You don't do things the normal way, that's for sure. You make waves unlike any seen before.

And a quick summary of my recent life. :)

I'm supposed to be taking complete control of the household for Mama so she can spend her time sewing and drawing so we can set up an Etsy shop. It's kind of difficult, but I know I'll get it over time. It's not too hard.

Today I didn't do anything too interesting. I walked to the produce store near our house, made a pie, did laundry, cleaned house, gave little kids baths, etc...

While I was making the pie we watched this movie called Ramen Girl. I have decided I want to learn Japanese. :D

Japanese and Hindustani. And I want to learn to sing Hindustani. :D

Goodnight my friends!

Loads and heaps of love

Shayleen

I had a very good day. :)

Today I went out with two of my girlfriends. :) We went and had coffee and then when Suzy left Anna and I walked for a while and talked. It was a pretty satisfying afternoon. :D Now I'm tired so this won't be a real post. I'll do a better one tomorrow, or later today as the case may be. :P

Your Style is Romantic

You have a subtle style that is slightly vintage and old fashioned.

It's hard for you to get used to modern design. You prefer things the way they used to be.

You believe each object has a story, and you buy things that spark your imagination.

A lot of what you own has sentimental value. You couldn't imagine throwing it away.

I like that result. :)

Goodnight all!

This Years Love...

I really am trying to do better about posting and I think it's going a little better. :)

Today I got up, cleaned the house, and then worked a little bit on this embroidering thing I'm making. We'll see how that turns out. :P

Then, some friends came over. :D All the little girls went and watched the High School Musicals and we went downstairs and watched Stargate, the 200th episode. It's a pretty funny one. :) Then we had hamburgers and talked and stuff. It was a very good day. :D

Currently I am very tired, but I wanted to do a quick post just so that I would have done one. :P And then, bed!

I can't believe how quickly the Fourth of July is coming up! Looking back, June seems to have taken no time at all, though it certainly seemed long at the time. The year is half over already...

I'm going to end this short update post with a song. I love David Gray, he makes me think of Portland... This song makes me feel sad and happy at the same time, but mostly sad.

Goodnight to you all!

Much love
